Show time!
I’ve been to the Leeds College of Art and Design Fashion Show at the Royal Armouries this afternoon to see what the Fashion students have been up to this year!
It was very good, having it in a professional auditorium with pro sound/lighting etc. definitely upped the ante over having it in the refectory as we did last year. Also, the models were all stunning once again! :)
I really like it at show time when we get to see what the students have accomplished; we work so hard all year to support them and some days it’s easy to forget what the end product is.
I find that since I’ve moved from direct student support into infrastructure support (servers and networks etc.) I feel even more distanced from the students. It can be hard to make a relationship between standing in a dusty comms room doing CISCO config and someone producing stunning clothing for a BA Fashion degree but the link is still there.
They rely on the computing resources, the computing resources rely on me (and my team mates of course); simple as that.
The main exhibition is going up in College in a couple of weeks so it’ll be nice to see what all the other courses have produced as well. As soon as the shows are over it’s going to be busy busy busy all Summer long for me though, there’s a lot of building work and office moves going on so it’s lots of cabling to plan and co-ordinate as well as creating the new builds.
Ah well, no rest for the wicked!
